Debuting in Destiny 2 during 2021’s Season of the Splicer alongside the likes of the Uzume RR4, Plug One.1 and the Hung Jury SR4, the Compass Rose is a possible drop during the Solstice - returning in 2022 alongside the new addition of Something New. If you’ve been on the lookout for a new shotgun to conquer in both PvE and PvP, this is one worth hunting for. We’ve also seen a new dungeon, Spire of the Watcher, with has a chance of Hierarchy of Needs dropping upon completion. Earliear this year we had the arrival of King’s Fall and King’s Fall challenges, plus weapons including Doom of Chelchis and Touch of Malice. For The Witch Queen, learn how to get Dead Messenger and Parasite. For Solstice 2022, it also drops with the Dream Work perk. Anytime you damage an enemy that an ally kills, that’s called an assist. Assists with Compass Rose will overfill the magazine on your next reload. Want every round you can carry loaded at once for an uninterrupted spree of shotgunny goodness? This gun can do it. As per usual, coming up with a ‘best’ combination of rolls and perks is rather tricky since it will vary depending on your taste and the modes that you have in mind for the weapon. A few will be great for PvE, while others excel at PvP instead. The community has baptized these ‘god rolls’ - mostly due to their sheer power and how they increase each weapon’s capabilities even further, or compensate some weapons that might be lacking a buff to be optimal with the rest. Here is our recommended Compass Rose god roll in Destiny 2:
Trench Barrel, Vorpal Weapon, or Incandescent Surplus Assault Mag Full Choke or Barrel Shroud
Let’s start with the perks. Surplus is a must have for this weapon. With it handling, reload speed and stability are all increased for each fully charged ability. This is a great bonus to have, and while you may not be used to this playstyle, it’s likely that it won’t take you long to recharge your abilities again after use. Plus, the perk activates with even one of them. From here, it depends on whether you’re focusing on PvP or PvE. For the former, Vorpal Weapon works well enough by increasing your damage against Guardians with their Super active. For PvE, we recommend Trench Barrel, which increases damage, handling and reloaded speed for a short duration (or after three shots) after a melee hit. Getting in the face of enemies is way easier here than in PvP, and thus you’ll be making more use of it. For solar users, Incandescent has been added as a potential perk. Defeated enemies spread scorch to nearby enemies. Sure, the damage this does is nice, but even better is the way certain Solar 3.0 abilities gain powerful bonuses, or cause chain reaction explosions to spread among your scorched foes. For the magazine, the Assault Mag works very well with both perk combinations. It increases stability quite a bit, as well as adding +10 rounds per minute, which is a great bonus. Lastly, you have two choices for the barrel. Full Choke, which reduces the Compass Rose’s projectile spread when aiming down sights at the cost of precision damage, combines perfectly with Surplus in PvE, allowing you to ADS faster. But for PvP, Barrel Shroud will get the job done, increasing stability and handling even further. The loss of precision damage from Full Chocke can leave you in disadvantage, so this option will work well instead. As per usual, once you have your preferred roll, be sure to upgrade it to a Masterwork to give it a stat boost, ability to generate Orbs on multi-kills, and add the option of a kill tracker!
