VRR dynamically syncs the refresh rate of HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs and PC monitors to the PlayStation 5’s graphical output, helping, as Sony puts it in its announcement post, to minimise or eliminate visual artifacts, including frame pacing issues and screen tearing. “Gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes render seamlessly, graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced,” it adds. VRR will be enabled through a console update over “the next few days” according to Sony, and 14 titles will be receiving patches to introduce VRR support in the “coming weeks”....

The Pokémon Company had already announced the Pokémon Centre pop-up store will be returning to London, but hadn’t given away any details on what new Pikachu design will be appearing. Images of the plushies have now been released, via today’s Pokémon livestream. The previous pop-up store in 2018 had Pikachu suited up and topped off with a bowler hat, and was so popular the store ended up having to limit purchases and opening hours in order to cope with demand....

To get Latios Mega Energy and get a Mega Latios, you must take part in Mega Raids to defeat the Gen 3 variant to add it to your Pokédex. This is a tough Pokémon to take on solo, so we recommend teaming up with other trainers and knowing the best Mega Latios counters, and the Mega Latios weakness to cath the Pokémon, and maybe even get a Shiny Latios if you’re lucky....

All-in-all, it’s a massive step up from this weekend’s Community Day for July, which featured boring bird Pokémon Starly. Let’s be clear, July’s Community Day was not a classic. However good its evolution might be in PVP, Starly was never going to attract hordes of players outside - but I suspect Niantic had its reasons for giving players a relatively relaxed experience....

As per Brexit, the UK does not have to comply with the new rule, although by the current post-Brexit arrangement the regulation would still apply in Northern Ireland as it remains inside the EU’s single market for goods. I’ve often wondered while playing whether certain objects auto-complete faster than others. If you’re yet to try PowerWash yourself, it’s worth knowing the game will, after you clean a certain amount of surface area, auto-complete the rest of the object in question. David Gibson, senior analyst at MST Financial, shared a graph on Twitter showing the imports to the US per month from June 2021 onwards, with a huge spike during last month. Gibson added he believes some of the stock will go towards the launch of God of War Ragnarök, which makes a lot of sense. Ragnarök is the next first-party title for PlayStation, and Sony will be undoubtedly eager to capitalise on its release to bolster sales of the PS5....
